This was not a good experience for me being my first time in Playa del Carmen
5.0The location of the property
− The staff was not courteous. Especially Ruben I believe was his name. He totally disregard my staff and myself and has us treated like unwelcome guess. Racist I would say as he dismissed us and attended to Hispanic guess. There was also a bad smell as I walked the stairs to get to my room because the elevator was not functioning.

3.0The food was good
− The smell of the sargassum was horrible. Too many pool beds that are for rent way too expensive. There was no window in our room.
Won’t be coming back
4.0Elevator and hot tub inoperative during entire stay. Food and shows needs to be better. Bars need to open earlier and stay open later. They open at 11am and close at 10pm
Ok, however, extremely disappointed in the room situation.
8.0The property was exceptional; Clean, mostly helpful staff, great breakfast.
− Upon arriving at the property my partner was given the keys to our room which upon doing so was advised we had been given a room with a partial sea view. To be clear the partial sea view was in accumulation of looking out onto the street onto the hotel facing. This was not what the booking was, as we had paid up to $1,000 extra for the Junior Suite 1 King Bed, Oceanview due to this being an engagement vacation. Once challenged we were advised this needed to be taken up with booking.com as it was a change in price due to booking in February and arriving in July. We refused the room originally provided, and where not given the option of the room we had booked unless we paid an additional daily discounted rate of $30 which was not acceptable given we had paid for the room we had expected and additional at that! After some time back and forth we were given a ground lever room, over looking the pool with again a partial sea view which was rather disappointing!
